Steve Rotheram has secured Combined Authority approval for a £160 million package to deliver Liverpool Baltic station and associated highway works.

The Combined Authority approved £144.3 million for the station and £15.7 million for linked highway works at its meeting on Friday 6 November. It also approved the full business case and the delegations needed to begin the implementation phase.
Merseytravel will act as the delivery vehicle for the Combined Authority. Officials were also authorised to progress land acquisition connected with the station programme.
The decision is subject to call-in until 13 November and is due to come into force on 14 November if it is not challenged. No call-in had been recorded when the decision was published.
Liverpool Baltic is the most advanced of four new stations proposed by Rotheram, alongside Carr Mill in St Helens, Daresbury in Halton and Woodchurch on the Wirral. The programme is intended to connect more communities to jobs and education through the city region's rail network.
The approval is a substantive step beyond the earlier proposal: it authorises capital funding and progression into delivery, rather than simply commissioning further development work.
