The programme will make free training, practical resources and expert guidance available to headteachers, trust leaders and education professionals across the city region.

It is designed by teachers and school leaders through the Oasis Big Education Institute and takes a technology-neutral approach to the opportunities and risks created by artificial intelligence.

The regional rollout follows earlier work in primary schools and a programme involving 20 secondary schools. The latest announcement broadens access rather than creating a compulsory technology platform for schools.

Training will focus on safe, ethical and responsible adoption, with teachers remaining responsible for decisions about classroom use. No new public funding figure was attached to the announcement.

The initiative was unveiled at the Liverpool City Region AI Summit. It adds an education strand to the Combined Authority's wider work on digital inclusion and skills under Rotheram's mayoralty.
