Labour councillor Sheila Little has encouraged local organisations to apply to a new £897,000 Community Investment Fund in Cheshire West and Chester, supporting preventative projects for children, adults and financially vulnerable residents.

Applications opened on 8 October for support aimed at community-led projects that help people earlier and reduce or delay their need for statutory services.
The 2026/27 fund combines £425,000 from the council with £472,000 from the government’s Crisis and Resilience Fund.
Three priorities
Its priorities cover a strong start for children and families, healthy and independent living for adults, and financial and community resilience.
Voluntary organisations, community and faith groups, social enterprises and other community groups can apply individually or through partnerships and consortia.
Help with applications
Little, the council’s cabinet member for adult social care, urged organisations to explore the opportunity. An application support session will take place at Ellesmere Port Library’s Committee Room from 1pm to 3pm on 22 October.
