Sarah Merry has welcomed completed improvements to outdoor spaces at Mount Stuart Primary School, announced by Cardiff Council on 9 October.

The work includes a refurbished reception play area and a new wellbeing garden at the front of the school. The spaces are intended to support children’s play, confidence and wellbeing.
Merry, Cardiff’s Labour deputy leader and cabinet member for education, said the improvements would benefit pupils and the school community.
The work was carried out by Churngold on behalf of McLaren Construction through community benefits connected with Cardiff’s indoor arena development at Atlantic Wharf.
The school’s headteacher, Helen Borley, described the value of the new spaces for pupils. The improvements give the school additional places for learning, play and quieter activity outdoors.
The announcement marks completion of these school improvements. It is a community benefit associated with construction activity, rather than a separately announced government funding award or the completion of the arena itself.
