Nathan England has marked the reopening of Longdon upon Tern Bridge after major repair, restoration and safety work.

The Grade II-listed bridge, which is more than 200 years old, needed essential repairs after vehicle damage. Specialist stonemasons rebuilt its damaged parapet using traditional conservation methods.
The project also installed permanent traffic lights, a controlled pedestrian crossing and improved footways. The council said the additions responded to requests from local residents.
England, Telford and Wrekin’s Labour cabinet member for safer streets and better housing, said the work protected a historic structure while making the crossing safer for drivers and pedestrians.
The council placed the project within its wider £91 million programme for maintaining and improving highways across the borough. It has not published a separate cost for the bridge scheme in its announcement.
