Hans Mundry has welcomed almost £900,000 for Warrington from Cheshire and Warrington Combined Authority's Mayoral Investment Fund.

The allocation includes £386,000 for the town's cultural programme and £500,000 for the second phase of public-realm improvements on Sankey Street.
The Sankey Street work is intended to improve walking, wheeling and cycling routes into the town centre, increase footfall and create a more welcoming gateway.
Mundry said the £500,000 would help the council deliver the scheme during the 2027-28 financial year, while the cultural funding would support a range of activities and initiatives.
The wider combined-authority package is worth £4.082 million and covers 15 projects. It comprises £1.859 million of revenue funding and £2.223 million of capital investment.
The awards are among the first major investments approved since the Cheshire and Warrington Combined Authority was established. Warrington's Labour-majority council has 40 of its 58 seats.
