Carolyn Healy has announced the completion of restoration work on the Jackfield and Coalport Memorial Footbridge.

The project restored the structure and footway while improving the bridge’s durability, accessibility and safety. The council said the work should also reduce future maintenance needs.
The bridge links Jackfield and Coalport in the Ironbridge Gorge and forms part of the area’s walking network. It is also a war memorial, with wreaths traditionally laid on its deck.
Healy, the council’s Labour deputy leader and cabinet member for neighbourhoods, planning and sustainability, said completing the work before Remembrance Sunday was particularly important to the local community.
The council said the improved crossing would support active travel, access to local businesses and visits to the area’s industrial heritage. No separate project cost was given in the announcement.
