I was just getting in touch quickly to pitch a comment piece from Dr Javed Khan OBE on what British Muslims will need to see from the next Prime Minister.
As I am sure you will know, the relationship between British Muslim communities and Sir Keir Starmer during his premiership has been a key national conversation. I have attached below an op-ed from one of the leading British Muslim voices in the country on what should come next with a change in leadership.
Dr Khan is the former chief executive of Bernardos, was one of four members on the government’s working group on a definition of Islamophobia and was the executive lead for London’s Tackling Serious Youth Violence board (from 2009 to 2010). He now serves as managing director for the public policy think tank Equi, and is one of the most prominent voices within the British Muslim community.
I have attached the draft article below for your consideration. Please let me know what you think and if you are interested in running it. I’m happy to talk through any alterations and changes you may think it needs.
Thanks so much in advance,
Best wishes,
