Euan Stainbank has warned that Reform UK's reported plan to review asylum cases would increase the backlog, demand for accommodation and costs for taxpayers.

The Labour MP for Falkirk made the intervention on Sunday evening in response to details of proposals Nigel Farage was expected to announce on Monday.
The reported package includes a five-year ban on granting asylum if Reform wins power, voiding active applications and reviewing cases granted asylum during the previous five years.
Stainbank argued that reopening cases would create additional administrative pressure rather than resolve it. His criticism focused on the practical consequences for processing claims and providing accommodation.
The proposals are opposition plans for a future Reform government. Stainbank's warning about increased costs is his assessment of their likely effect, rather than a published costing or a change already being implemented.
