Ross Houston has taken Barnet Council's response to the Mayor of London's draft London Plan through cabinet.

The response supports the objective of sustainable growth and addressing housing need, while raising concerns about the proposed housing target, infrastructure capacity, affordable housing delivery, transport effects and the approach to Green Belt land.
Barnet's cabinet approved the response on 12 October after accepting a scrutiny recommendation on affordable housing. The revised position supports a London-wide ambition while arguing that boroughs should retain flexibility to reflect local need, viability and market conditions.
The council said more work was required to strengthen the evidence base for housing delivery, infrastructure provision and the proposed approach to Green Belt release.
Houston, Barnet's deputy leader and cabinet member for homes and regeneration, presented the report. Officers were authorised to make minor or factual changes before submitting the response to the Greater London Authority.
Barnet has no overall political control. Labour holds 31 of 63 seats and runs a minority administration, with 31 Conservative councillors and one Green councillor.
