Labour campaigners from across the West Midlands have rallied behind Caroline Reid as the party launches its campaign for the St James’s ward by-election in Dudley.

Gurinder Singh Josan, Labour MP for Smethwick, joined Dudley MP Sonia Kumar, West Midlands mayor Richard Parker, Dudley Labour group leader Councillor Shaukat Ali and local councillors and activists at the launch.
Josan: ‘help defeat Reform’
Josan described a strong turnout and urged Labour supporters to get involved in the campaign.
“We have an excellent Labour Party candidate, Caroline Reid, so do get involved and help defeat Reform,” he said.
Kumar thanked Josan for supporting Reid, adding: “The fight starts here in Dudley.”
The by-election takes place on Thursday 29 October following the resignation of Ivor Robinson, who won the seat for Reform UK in May.

How to vote
The launch brings together local volunteers and Labour representatives from across the region to support Reid’s bid to represent the ward on Dudley Council.
Residents who want to take part in the election must be registered to vote by 11.59pm on Tuesday 13 October. Applications for a postal vote must be received by 5pm on Wednesday 14 October, while the proxy vote application deadline is 5pm on Wednesday 21 October.
Voters attending a polling station will need an accepted form of photo identification. Those without suitable ID can apply for a free Voter Authority Certificate by 5pm on 21 October.
With polling day approaching, Josan’s message to Labour members was clear: get involved and help elect Reid.
