John Bloxsom has been elected as a Labour councillor for Rodborough ward on Stroud District Council, winning 697 votes and a majority of 227.

The Green Party's Robin Layfield finished second with 470 votes. Reform UK received 191, the Local Conservatives 103 and the Liberal Democrats 23.
The official declaration recorded 1,486 ballot papers issued from an electorate of 3,519, producing turnout of 42.23 per cent. Two ballot papers were rejected.
Bloxsom's victory was a Labour hold following the resignation of Katy Hofmann. It restores Rodborough's full representation alongside Labour councillor Nigel Prenter.
The result improves on Bloxsom's narrow defeat in the larger Rodborough county division in May 2025, when he lost to the Green candidate by 12 votes.
The by-election does not alter control of Stroud District Council. The Greens remain the largest group and lead the authority.
The result nevertheless retains a closely contested district seat for Labour and leaves every place on the 51-member council filled.
