The Agora, at 30 Sadler Gate in the Cathedral Quarter, received £50,000 through the council’s Vacant to Vibrant scheme, which uses UK Shared Prosperity Fund support to bring empty city-centre premises back into use.

Announced on 7 October, the project combines professional meeting and training space with a ground-floor shop, workspace and creative activities, including a studio where customers can make journals and notebooks and a 100-square-metre events space available for hire.

Bringing people back into the city centre

Kaur, cabinet member for city centre, culture and tourism, said projects of this kind could encourage businesses to expand and attract more people into central Derby.

A public open day is scheduled for Saturday 10 October, from 10am to 10pm.
