Midgley announced the move on social media, saying:

I’m now on TikTok.

She added:

I’ll be sharing updates from Knowsley, Parliament, and the occasional glimpse behind the scenes.

Midgley has represented Knowsley since July 2024 and currently serves as Parliamentary Secretary to the Treasury and Government Chief Whip, a role she has held since July 2026.

Bringing Westminster closer to constituents

The move reflects the growing use of short-form video by MPs seeking to communicate directly with voters outside traditional political channels.

For Midgley, the account is expected to focus on a mix of constituency work and parliamentary activity, giving residents a more informal view of what happens both locally and at Westminster.

Her constituency website says she is focused on issues including youth investment, SEND support, violence against women and girls, A-level provision in Knowsley and the cost of living.

Strong local roots

Midgley grew up in Stockbridge Village in Knowsley and has spoken frequently about how her working-class upbringing and her family’s experience of secure, unionised employment shaped her politics.

Before entering Parliament, she spent much of her career in the trade union movement.

She was elected to Parliament in 2024 and has since taken on senior responsibilities inside government.

Politics on new platforms

TikTok has become an increasingly important platform for political communication, particularly among younger audiences who are less likely to engage with traditional political media.

Midgley’s decision to join gives her another route to explain government decisions, highlight constituency campaigns and show more of the everyday work of an MP.

Her message is straightforward: constituents who want regular updates from Knowsley and Westminster can now follow her on TikTok as well as through her existing channels.
