Turnout was 23.2 per cent. The seat had previously been held by a Reform UK councillor.

The result takes Labour’s representation on the borough council to three seats. Reform UK holds 26 and the Conservatives 15, according to the council’s updated announcement.

The gain strengthens Labour’s small council group while leaving Reform UK with a majority of the 44 seats.
