Home Secretary Shabana Mahmood has launched a new ‘Winter of Action’ this Christmas to crack down on shoplifting and anti-social behaviour, following the success of the summer initiative that drove up arrests.
The government has also delivered on its promise to put named, contactable neighbourhood police officers in every community in England and Wales.
Mahmood said Labour was determined to keep communities safe and restore trust in policing: “This government is making our streets safer, standing up for shopworkers, and tackling the blight of crime in our neighbourhoods.”
