UK Government announces new measures to tackle antisemitism and protect Jewish communities
The Prime Minister has announced a major package of measures to tackle antisemitism in universities and strengthen security around Jewish community sites.
Under the plans, university staff across the UK will receive new resources and training to help identify and address antisemitism, ensuring Jewish students feel safe and supported on campus.
At the same time, up to £10 million in new funding will be made available to boost security at synagogues, Jewish schools and community centres. The funding will help pay for extra security staff and equipment such as CCTV, alarms and floodlights.
The Prime Minister said tackling antisemitism “is a national effort” that the government will lead, reaffirming its commitment to protecting Jewish communities and ensuring they can live and study in safety.
