In a historic move to revive hope for peace between Israelis and Palestinians, the United Kingdom has formally recognised the State of Palestine.
Prime Minister Keir Starmer issued a statement welcoming the recognition, underscoring the UK’s commitment to a two-state solution. He also sent a personal letter to President Mahmoud Abbas affirming support for renewed peace efforts.
Labour sources said the recognition is intended to signal a clear commitment to justice and international law, while encouraging constructive dialogue in the Middle East.
