TSSA general secretary Maryam Eslamdoust has accused Kemi Badenoch of leaving a “cost-of-living sized hole” in her Conservative conference speech.

Responding to the Tory leader’s address in Birmingham on Wednesday, Eslamdoust said Badenoch had offered no plan to help families struggling with everyday expenses.
She contrasted the speech with Labour’s proposed national care service, arguing that it could make a substantial difference to people who need care and to their families.
“What we badly need is a new deal for Britain which has people, rather than profit at its heart,” Eslamdoust said.
The rail union leader’s response adds a trade union voice to the debate over the Conservatives’ conference proposals. Her test for both parties is whether their plans ease the pressures working people face now.
