West Yorkshire Mayor Tracy Brabin has joined the panel for a new initiative seeking practical, low-cost ideas from the public to improve everyday life.

The Small Ideas Initiative, launched on 8 October, invites members of the public to propose relatively low-cost, achievable changes across areas including health, education, transport and housing.
Backed by Martin Lewis
Consumer campaigner Martin Lewis has provided £175,000 of personal funding for the project, which is being run by Nesta’s Centre for Collective Intelligence and the charity Involve.
Brabin will serve on a cross-party panel chaired by Lewis, helping to select around 50 proposals to take forward to government, councils or regulators.
Submissions close on 12 November
Ideas will be assessed for feasibility, with public feedback forming part of the process before the final selection.
The initiative offers a route for public suggestions to reach decision-makers. Selection will not itself mean a proposal has been adopted as government policy.
