Simon Foster has welcomed a new weapon-surrender bin in Willenhall, Coventry, as part of an expansion of the region’s surrender-bin network.

Coventry Council announced the facility on 9 October. It is at The Hagard Community on Remembrance Road and allows people to dispose of weapons anonymously.
The project brings together the West Midlands Violence Reduction Partnership, the council, police and local community representatives.
The location was chosen using police information about local need. Weapons placed in the bin will be professionally removed and destroyed.
Foster, the Labour Police and Crime Commissioner for the West Midlands, said the network’s expansion was intended to prevent violence and stop weapons falling into the wrong hands.
The new facility gives residents another means of removing dangerous items from circulation as the partners continue work on violence prevention.
