Shaun Davies has pledged to keep pressing for better rail links for Telford after the Office of Rail and Road rejected proposals for a new direct service to London.

In a statement on 8 October, the Telford Labour MP said he was disappointed by the decision and would continue working with the Government and rail industry on improved connections.
The regulator rejected Wrexham, Shropshire and Midlands Railway’s application for four daily return services between Wrexham and London Euston.
It also turned down applications for additional services involving Rochdale and Blackpool, citing limited capacity and the risk of worsening delays on the West Coast Main Line.
Davies said dependable services mattered for residents travelling for work, education and business, and for the town’s wider economic prospects.
His intervention keeps the case for improved Telford services before ministers and operators. It does not amount to approval or funding for a replacement service.
