Liverpool City Region Mayor Steve Rotheram has welcomed England’s first Place Delivery Agreement, bringing the combined authority, Homes England and the National Housing Bank into a closer housing and regeneration partnership.
Announced on 2 October, the agreement establishes a joint approach to delivering projects and tackling obstacles to new homes, with a dedicated Joint Delivery Unit bringing together staff and expertise from the three organisations.
North Docks and Central Station Gateway
Its priorities include Liverpool’s North Docks and Central Station Gateway, alongside the wider pipeline of social, affordable and council housing across the city region.
The agreement gives the mayor greater influence over housing investment priorities and establishes shared delivery and accountability arrangements.
Rotheram said the partnership offered an opportunity to get more council and social homes built, move stalled schemes forward and focus investment where it could have the greatest impact.
