Rachael Maskell has secured a commitment for government officials to work with her and the Post Office on temporary provision in York city centre.

The Crown post office closed after 138 years and replacement services were provided through WHSmith. Its new owner closed that branch on 14 October.
Maskell told ministers that the remaining city-centre provision was too small for residents, businesses and visitors and that a permanent replacement could take six months.
Future of Work Minister Kate Dearden said the Post Office remained committed to a replacement branch and had received interest from several potential applicants.
Dearden will ask the company to consider capacity concerns while officials work with Maskell on an interim arrangement.
The undertaking does not guarantee a particular temporary site or opening date, but it creates a direct process for addressing the immediate gap.
