Labour MP Luke Pollard has called on South West Water to publish an investment plan for Plymouth Central Wastewater Works at Cattedown within six weeks.

The Plymouth Sutton and Devonport MP wrote to the company’s chief executive after an Environment Agency investigation found unauthorised sewage discharges into Plymouth Sound.
Pollard said long-running underinvestment had also left Cattedown residents dealing with persistent odour problems. South West Water introduced an online smell-reporting tool in June following local campaigning.
Profits, not bills
He wants the company to set out the work required to prevent further discharges and address the odour problem, with investment funded from company profits rather than higher customer bills.
Pollard also asked South West Water to confirm publicly that its £7.8 million fine would not be passed on to billpayers.
His letter is a demand for a company plan; it does not mean that new investment has yet been agreed.
