Pauline McNeill has won Scottish Parliament support for an amendment calling for adequate resources to protect critical infrastructure against cyber threats.

Her amendment was approved by 96 votes to 13, with no abstentions, during the cyber-resilience debate on 8 October.
It welcomed the UK Government’s Cyber Security and Resilience (Network and Information Systems) Bill as a step towards nationwide protection protocols.
It also called on the Scottish Government to resource responsibilities within its devolved powers, including any additional security measures or reporting arrangements required.
McNeill, Scottish Labour’s justice spokesperson and a Glasgow regional MSP, argued that skills and cooperation with UK and European partners were essential to responding to increasingly sophisticated attacks.
The vote records support for her amendment to a parliamentary motion. It does not itself allocate money or bring the UK legislation into force.
