Paula Basnett has welcomed new bus links to Wirral’s hospitals, with services due to begin on 25 October.

Wirral’s Labour council leader backed the changes in a statement on 9 October, following the Liverpool City Region’s announcement the previous day.
The new 453 service will connect Irby, Heswall and Clatterbridge Hospital. A new circular service, operating as routes 483 and 484, will link Arrowe Park Hospital with surrounding communities.
The circular routes will serve West Kirby, Meols, Hoylake, Moreton, Saughall Massie and Upton, widening the options for people travelling to hospital appointments or work.
Basnett said the changes would make hospital journeys easier for residents. The routes form part of changes enabled by public control of the city region’s bus services.
The combined authority sets routes, fares, timetables and service standards under that arrangement. The hospital links are planned services; they are not yet operating.
