Rochdale MP Paul Waugh has welcomed completion of the building for the Sustainable Materials & Manufacturing Centre at Kingsway Business Park.

The 30,000 sq ft centre is the first major physical development within Rochdale's Atom Valley Innovation District, which aims to bring businesses, researchers and investment partners together.
The building will now move into specialist fit-out, with the centre expected to become operational in 2027. Construction completion does not mean the facility is already open to businesses.
Waugh highlighted the opportunities for advanced manufacturing firms and start-ups to access research, specialist facilities and support through the project.
The development brings together Rochdale Development Agency, Greater Manchester Combined Authority, the University of Manchester and other innovation partners. The existing Centre of Expertise in Advanced Materials and Sustainability network has already supported more than 90 companies.
