Nadia Whittome has obtained a ministerial clarification of the Government's response to the International Court of Justice's advisory opinion on Israel's occupation.

The Nottingham East MP asked what steps ministers would take to meet the obligations on third states identified by the court in July 2024.
Foreign Office minister Stephen Doughty said the Government's official view was that the occupation is unlawful. He said Britain would continue to distinguish between Israel within its internationally recognised borders and territory occupied since 1967.
The written answer confirmed that ministers will refuse applications for arms and other export licences where the goods would materially contribute to the occupation.
It also restated the Government's position that the unlawfulness of the occupation should affect its economic relationships with occupied territory, including through a ban on imports from illegal settlements.
The answer was issued on 14 October in response to Whittome's named-day question. It clarifies the application of measures announced in September rather than introducing a separate new sanctions package.
