Great Grimsby and Cleethorpes MP Melanie Onn and the Mayor of North East Lincolnshire, Councillor Marian Boyd, have joined family, friends and members of the West End Bowling and Social Club to celebrate Mim Horton's 100th birthday.
Mim marked the milestone surrounded by loved ones, including her son Denis and grandchildren Amy, Ben and James, who travelled from London, Bristol and Paris. Nieces and nephews also made the journey from Rotherham for what family described as a memorable gathering.
The celebration was held at the West End Bowling and Social Club, where members and friends organised the event in Mim's honour. Guests saw Mim share the congratulatory card she received from His Majesty The King and Her Majesty The Queen, alongside cards, gifts and messages of goodwill.
In keeping with Mim's lifelong commitment to helping others, guests donated to The Samaritans — the charity where she volunteered and worked for 14 years.
Mim thanked members of the club for organising the celebration and for making the occasion special.
Melanie Onn MP said: “It was a real privilege to join Mim and her family as she celebrated her 100th birthday.
“Mim has given so much to her community throughout her life, particularly through her work with The Samaritans, and it was lovely to see so many friends and family come together to celebrate her special day.”
