Monica Lennon questions participation in council-reform consultation

The Glasgow MSP is seeking details of representation, engagement and the decisions expected after Scotland's consultation.

Monica Lennon has asked the Scottish Government how it will ensure a local-government reform consultation reaches people who may otherwise be overlooked.

The Scottish Labour MSP for Glasgow lodged four written questions on 9 October about participation and the process that will follow the three-month consultation.

She asked how ethnic minority communities, people under 18 and social-housing tenants would be included.

Lennon also sought the Government’s target number of respondents and details of how it would maximise public engagement and influence over the reform process.

A further question asks what decisions ministers expect to take at the end of the consultation.

The questions focus on who shapes the proposals and what happens next. They do not announce an agreed reform settlement, and no answers were displayed when checked.
