Following our recent email regarding the poor conditions at the Manchester Airport Private Hire Holding Area (PHHA) at Jet Parks 1, we wanted to provide an update.
After visiting the site and raising drivers' concerns directly with Manchester Airport management, ADCU has now received a response from the airport and has secured a meeting with senior management to discuss the issues further.
As a result of our intervention, Manchester Airport has confirmed that new toilet facilities have now been delivered to the site and are expected to be available to drivers by the end of next week once a safe access route has been completed.
While this is a welcome first step, there is still more work to be done.
ADCU remains concerned about: The poor condition of the car park surface, including potholes and uneven ground. The lack of shelter and suitable rest facilities for drivers. The absence of a clear timetable for a new and improved holding area. The fact that drivers continue to pay to use the site despite the poor conditions.
We have also raised these concerns with Mike Kane MP and Greater Manchester Mayor Andy Burnham and will continue to keep political pressure on Manchester Airport until meaningful improvements are delivered.
ADCU will be meeting with Manchester Airport management in the coming weeks and will continue to push for better facilities, safer conditions, and fair treatment for drivers.
