Major Youth Employment Drive

This week we announced an extra £1 billion in grants for employers, to unlock over 200,000 paid jobs for young people, plus big changes to apprenticeships so more small and medium-sized companies get help to take them on.

The offer to employers includes:

- £1,000 for employers who hire apprentices aged 16-18 - £2,000 for SMEs who hire apprentices aged 16-24 - £2,000 for employers who hire foundation apprentices aged 16-21 - £3,000 for employers who hire 18-24 year olds who have been on Universal Credit for over six months - No NICs on employees under 21, or apprentices under 25 - Jobs Guarantee - fully subsidised work for long-term unemployed 18-24 year olds

Please share these new incentives with businesses in your networks. We are keen that this offer is seen by as many employers as possible, including small businesses in every community.

"The new incentives announced today are a clear and decisive step forward – helping small firms to hire those on Universal Credit and to create apprenticeships. It’s the right choice to prioritise public funding to back small employers in particular to provide apprenticeships for young people."
