The Government announced on 8 October that the centre had held its inaugural meeting, establishing a permanent foothold in Ukraine for UK businesses.

It is intended particularly to support small and medium-sized firms seeking partners for joint development, production and investment.

Pollard, the minister for defence readiness and industry, said the centre could unlock opportunities for investment, growth and Ukraine’s long-term recovery.

The centre builds on more than 40 existing partnerships between British and Ukrainian companies. The centre also supports Ukrainian firms seeking UK partners or establishing subsidiaries.

Plans for the centre had been set out previously. Its opening marks a new stage in providing practical support for industrial cooperation.
