Liam Byrne has welcomed progress towards an urgent treatment centre at Heartlands Hospital, saying the proposed facility’s planning application is now live.

In a statement on 7 October, the Labour MP for Birmingham Hodge Hill and Solihull North described the application as an important milestone in the campaign to bring the centre to the hospital.
A much-needed facility
Byrne said the facility was much needed and presented the planning stage as a step towards making it a reality.
He also acknowledged that further work remained, making clear that the application was progress towards delivery rather than an announcement that the centre had opened.
His intervention puts the proposed urgent treatment centre back in the spotlight as he continues his campaign for the hospital facility.
