Nearly 7,000 new jobs, £1.3 billion in investment, and a Bollywood boost to Britain — Labour’s trade mission to India marks a new era in UK–India relations.
The Prime Minister returned from his first official visit to India this week, having secured 64 new investments from Indian firms worth a collective £1.3 billion. The deals will create 6,900 jobs across every region of the UK — a major vote of confidence in Britain’s economic future under Labour.
The partnership goes beyond business. Three major Bollywood blockbusters will be filmed in the UK from 2026, creating over 3,000 jobs and injecting millions into the creative economy.
Meanwhile, the University of Lancaster and the University of Surrey will open new campuses in India — a first for both institutions — tapping into the country’s booming higher education demand while boosting UK export revenue.
“This is Labour delivering a Britain that leads on trade, culture and education,” said the Prime Minister during his press conference in New Delhi.
The visit, accompanied by the largest ever UK trade delegation, marks one of the government’s most ambitious international missions since taking office.
