Welcome back to our Reform UK Watch email from Labour Unions.
Reform’s 8 MPs represent thousands of people, from Runcorn to Romford and beyond.
They talk big game on what they’d do to support working people at election time, but is that what they’re doing as elected MPs in Parliament? (Not really!)
This regular email takes a look at what they’re doing in Parliament, and whose interests they’re really representing.
Use this to show friends and family, colleagues in your workplace, members of your community and beyond what Reform really get up to when they’re handed power.
Reform UK v Tumble Dryers 2: The Revenge
In our last email, we covered how all 8 Reform MPs went out of their way to try and put a stop to a technical regulation that makes tumble dryers more energy efficient and repairable.
And now they’re at it again trying the same thing! 7 Reform MPs have again gone out of their way to try and stop tumble dryers becoming more efficient.
You can see that here:
This poses so many questions: what have they got against tumble dryers? And why didn’t Robert Jenrick get involved this time?
Voting Against the King’s Speech
In the last month, the government brought forward what is called “the King’s Speech.”
For those who don’t know, this has nothing to do with Colin Firth and it isn’t really the words of King Charles himself: this is the government setting out the laws it’s going to bring forward for around the next 18 months during the current session of Parliament.
This includes new laws to reform Commonhold and Leasehold, nationalise the steel industry, clean our waterways, renew social housing, strengthen our energy independence and strengthen our national security.
5 Reform MPs voted against the King’s Speech as a whole: Suella Braverman, Robert Jenrick, Sarah Pochin, Andrew Rosindell and Richard Tice.
You can see that vote here:
No show Nigel
Reform’s leader and Clacton MP Nigel Farage popped up again for a PMQ in Parliament last week.
Before then, he had not spoken in Parliament since 25 March – 68 days without speaking in Parliament.
He had not voted in Parliament since 18 March until last week – 77 days.
And he has still not asked a single Written Parliamentary Question since February 10 - 115 days.

Reform UK ❤️ Margaret Thatcher
Speaking in the King’s Speech debate, Romford MP Andrew Rosindell, who defected to Reform UK from the Tories earlier this year, took the time to praise former Conservative Prime Minister Margaret Thatcher. He said:
“What this country needs is not more Whitehall diktats or Government intrusion into people’s lives, but another 1979-style Margaret Thatcher revolution for enterprise.”
Is that the same Thatcher revolution that led to unemployment peaking at 3.3million, saw our mining communities decimated, and social housebuilding halve?
It couldn’t be clearer: vote Reform UK, get the Tories.
Armed Forces Bill
Reform MPs Lee Anderson, Andre Rosindell and Richard Tice joined with the Tories to vote for an amendment to the Armed Forces Bill, that would allow the European Convention on Human Rights to be suspended for overseas operations.
See the vote here:
Jenrick: where are we now?
This month, Newark MP Robert Jenrick spoke in Parliament to ask: “And where are we, less than two years later?”
But before he could finish his point, he was interrupted by another MP. Watch here…
Reform UK is just a club for failed Tories!
Reform UK say they back working people, but their own words and their actions tell a different story. When it mattered most, they voted against the Employment Rights Act, turning their backs on working people. They’ve promised to repeal this vital Act if they get into power.
Labour’s Employment Rights Act is the first step in delivering the New Deal for Working People. It will raise wages and strengthen workplace protections. The New Deal is the biggest boost to workers’ rights in decades, and it was created in partnership with the trade union movement - and unions will keep pushing to make sure Labour deliver it in full.
Reform UK may talk about workers – but they need to be judged on their policies and their actions.
