Following Labour Party Conference in Liverpool, attention is beginning to turn to the party’s regional and national gatherings, which will give members, councillors, MPs, mayors, trade unions and campaigners another opportunity to debate policy and prepare for the electoral battles ahead.

Regional conferences are also expected to provide ministers and senior Labour figures with a platform to set out how the government’s programme will be delivered in different parts of the country, with growth, devolution, housing, skills, transport and public services likely to feature prominently.

Welsh Labour heads to Llandudno in November

Welsh Labour will hold its annual conference in Llandudno from Friday 13 to Sunday 15 November 2026.

The conference will open with a welcome reception at St George’s Hotel on the Friday evening, before the main conference takes place at Venue Cymru on Saturday and Sunday.

A Gala Dinner will also be held at Venue Cymru on Saturday evening.

The conference will bring together Labour members, elected representatives, trade unions and campaigners from across Wales to debate policy and the party’s priorities.

Senior Labour figures and members of the government are expected to attend and speak during the weekend.

The event will come at an important political moment for Welsh Labour as it continues to develop its programme around stronger communities, economic growth and public services.

East Midlands Labour prepares for Northampton conference

East Midlands Labour is also preparing for its regional conference in Northampton in November.

The full programme, exact date and speaker line-up have not yet been publicly confirmed, but the conference is expected to bring together Labour MPs, councillors, trade unions, activists and regional leaders.

It comes as Labour looks increasingly towards the May 2027 local elections and the growing role of devolved regional government.

Issues including economic growth, skills, investment, transport and the role of the East Midlands Combined County Authority are likely to feature prominently.

East Midlands Mayor Claire Ward is expected to be a key figure in the wider regional political debate as Labour seeks to demonstrate what devolution can deliver for communities across the East Midlands.

Yorkshire and the Humber conference confirmed for Bradford

Yorkshire and the Humber Labour has confirmed that its next regional conference will take place in Bradford on Saturday 20 February 2027.

The conference will run from 9.30am until 7.30pm, with the exact venue being provided to delegates shortly before the event.

The day is expected to include speeches, policy discussions, internal party business and contributions from political leaders, trade unions and businesses.

An evening drinks reception will follow the main conference programme.

Bradford provides a significant backdrop for the event, with the region remaining central to Labour’s electoral strategy and the government’s wider ambitions around transport, housing, skills and regional economic growth.

Senior ministers and other Labour figures are expected to take part, with the full speaker programme due to be confirmed nearer the date.

Further regional conferences expected

Other Labour regions are expected to announce their next conference dates and venues over the coming months.

London Labour held its most recent regional conference in July, while Labour North, North West Labour and Scottish Labour also held conferences earlier this year.

Future conferences are expected across the West Midlands, South East, South West, Eastern region and the North, although dates have not yet been formally announced.

Scottish Labour’s next conference will be particularly closely watched following the election of Michael Marra as Scottish Labour leader, with the party beginning a new phase of rebuilding and political development in Scotland.

A chance to take Labour’s message around the country

Regional conferences are often less visible than the party’s main annual conference, but they play an important role in Labour’s political organisation.

They give ministers, mayors, council leaders and MPs the opportunity to discuss how national policy is being implemented locally, while members and trade unions can raise issues particular to their own regions.

This year, that discussion is likely to focus heavily on Labour’s broader programme of economic growth, devolution, housing, skills, transport and public-service reform.

The conferences also provide an important organisational platform ahead of the next round of local elections, giving regional parties the opportunity to bring together candidates, campaigners and elected representatives.

Labour Home will continue to update the regional conference diary as further dates, venues and speaker programmes are confirmed.
