Labour is taking decisive action to ensure the immigration system works fairly for British workers.
Since July 2024, a record 1,948 licences to sponsor overseas workers have been revoked – more than double the previous year – under a crackdown on rogue employers who undercut wages and exploit migrant workers.
Sanctions have also been expanded, with employers now facing financial penalties, business closure orders, and possible prosecution if caught abusing the system.
In parallel, the government has taken down 20,000 social media accounts linked to people-smuggling gangs, hitting criminals who profit from exploitation.
The Home Office says this approach will protect British jobs, strengthen border security and restore fairness to the system.
