John Healey has announced £17 million of new British support for repairs to the protective shelter at the Chornobyl nuclear power plant in Ukraine.

The structure was damaged by a Russian drone strike last year. The work will restore confinement and ventilation functions and protect the shelter's planned lifespan.
The UK contribution will form part of a wider international programme co-ordinated by the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development with Ukraine and other G7 donors.
Ministers said that leaving the damage unaddressed would increase the risk of corrosion and undermine decades of investment in nuclear safety.
The announcement follows President Volodymyr Zelenskyy's latest visit to Downing Street and renewed calls for allies to increase pressure on Russia.
The £17 million is new support for the repair programme. It is separate from previously announced military and humanitarian assistance to Ukraine.
