Joe Fagan has asked the Scottish Government whether its proposed Public Service Renewal Bill would enable councils to merge or provide for the replacement of integrated joint boards.

The South Scotland MSP lodged three written questions on 9 October, seeking details of the legislation’s intended scope.
One asks whether the bill will include provision enabling local-authority mergers. A second concerns legislative changes required to implement the government’s local-governance proposals.
The third asks whether ministers plan to make provision for replacing integrated joint boards. The questions seek information about possible legislation rather than confirming that those changes will happen.
Answers are expected on 6 November. No responses were displayed on the Parliament’s question pages when checked.
Fagan is Scottish Labour’s shadow minister for public finance and local government. His intervention seeks clarity on the structures that could be affected by the proposed bill.
