Henry Tufnell has obtained confirmation that manufacturers operating under SIC codes 2599 and 2790 are within the scope of the British Industrial Competitiveness Scheme.

The Labour MP for Mid and South Pembrokeshire asked ministers to assess the case for making both groups eligible for support.
In a written answer, business minister Blair McDougall confirmed that the classifications are covered, while stressing that individual firms must still satisfy every eligibility condition.
The two codes cover other fabricated metal products not elsewhere classified and the manufacture of other electrical equipment. Inclusion in scope does not guarantee that every business in those categories will qualify.
Applicants are being directed to the government's online eligibility checker. Among the scheme's requirements is a minimum annual grid-electricity use of 33 megawatt hours at an eligible site.
Successful applicants are expected to receive exemptions from specified electricity-policy costs in stages from April and October 2027. The clarification gives affected manufacturers a firmer basis on which to test their eligibility.
