In another landmark announcement, the Labour government has struck new deals with US companies to turbocharge the build of nuclear power stations on both sides of the Atlantic.
The agreements will create thousands of high-skilled jobs, including up to 2,500 jobs in Teesside, while strengthening Britain’s energy security and reducing long-term energy bills.
The government is also taking steps to speed up site licensing and fast-track reactor design reviews, helping to deliver clean, homegrown energy more quickly.
Ministers hailed the agreements as part of a “golden age of nuclear”, securing affordable and sustainable energy for working people.
