Linford Wood Place will provide short breaks, day services and specialist support, with the first service users due to arrive once construction and final preparations are complete.

The investment by Milton Keynes City Council includes £4 million raised from housing developers. Families of intended users have been involved in the design process.

Support for up to 59 adults a day

The centre is planned to support up to 59 adults each weekday and includes 13 en-suite bedrooms, hoists, a training kitchen, a cinema, art and music rooms and private gardens.

Fuller said major structural work was finished and the focus was now on furnishing, decoration and therapeutic outdoor spaces.

The project was announced earlier in the year. Construction has now reached its final stage, with completion expected in November.
