Flood Action Online brings together guidance on understanding local risk, receiving flood warnings and checking Met Office weather alerts. It also explains measures homeowners can take to make their properties more resilient.

The government has set a target for 200,000 properties to benefit from its £4.2 billion flood defence investment programme, which runs until March 2029. The funding covers repairs, replacement defences and new projects.

Hardy encouraged people to prepare a flood plan and follow warnings to protect their homes and families as extreme weather becomes more changeable.

The Environment Agency continues to offer free flood warnings. The new service is intended to make preparedness advice easier to find before an emergency develops.
