Foreign Secretary Ed Miliband has said he is "appalled" by the latest Houthi attack on King Khalid International Airport in Riyadh, which killed at least 12 people and wounded more than 300, as Defence Secretary Wes Streeting called it an "outrageous escalation".

Saturday's strike was the third attack in a week on the Saudi capital's main airport by the Iran-backed Houthis. Saudi Arabia's civil aviation authority said the dead included people from Saudi Arabia, Bangladesh, the US, Jordan, Palestine, Syria, Sudan and Egypt. Flights were diverted and operations at the airport were temporarily suspended.
Ed Miliband: 'We stand in solidarity'
In a statement on Sunday, the Foreign Secretary said: "I am appalled by the latest attack on King Khalid International Airport, my thoughts are with those families who have lost loved ones, and those injured in this horrific attack.
"We stand in solidarity with those affected."
He advised British nationals to avoid the airport, follow the advice of the Saudi authorities and check the Foreign Office's travel advice for Saudi Arabia.
Wes Streeting: 'Support our Saudi allies'
Speaking on Sunday, Wes Streeting described the attack as "absolutely shocking". He said: "It is why the UK is providing support to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, both in terms of ground-based air defences and also air-to-air refuelling support so that Saudi planes can fly for longer to provide that defensive action against the Houthis."
He added: "Ultimately, there will not be a military resolution to this conflict. It can only be diplomatic.
"But in the meantime, we've got to do everything we can to support our Saudi allies and the legitimate government of Yemen. That is what we will do."
Escalating conflict
The attacks follow the collapse over the summer of the 2022 truce between Saudi Arabia and the Houthis. The Saudi-backed Yemeni government launched an offensive this week to retake territory around the Bab el-Mandeb strait, and the Houthis have declared Saudi airspace a zone of military operations.
The UK has also condemned the Houthis' escalation at the UN Security Council.
