Tooting MP Dr Rosena Allin-Khan has called out Conservative candidate Otto Jacobsson following social media exchanges after recent local election campaigning in Wandsworth.
The comments follow Thursday’s Trinity ward by-election, in which Labour’s Shirin Georgiani held the seat with 1,558 votes, 127 ahead of Jacobsson. A Conservative win would have given the Tories a majority on Wandsworth Council; the borough remains under no overall control.
Responding to posts targeting her office manager and Labour representative Sean Lawless, Allin-Khan defended her team’s conduct and highlighted the importance of graciousness in local politics.
“The man can’t just lose gracefully. What a shame. Better luck next time Otto.”

The exchange follows continuous local campaigning across Tooting, where Labour representatives have worked to deliver on key community priorities including local safety, cleaner streets, and improved municipal services.

Political commentator Charlie Mansell said: “It’s not how you win that people remember, but how you behave when you lose that is important in the long-run.”
