Dominic Moffitt encourages community groups to apply for greener-building grants

Ealing's Better Spaces Fund offers grants of up to £10,000 for improvements that reduce energy costs and help buildings cope with extreme weather.

A total of £100,000 is available in the funding round, with organisations able to apply for up to £10,000. Applications must be received by 15 November.

Eligible improvements include solar panels, insulation, double glazing, shutters, awnings and heat pumps, helping buildings stay warmer in winter or cooler in summer.

Moffitt, the council's cabinet member for climate action, said reducing running costs could leave community organisations with more money for their work supporting local people.

The council's update highlights West Acton Community Centre, which used earlier grant funding to replace old windows, and Acton Baptist Church, which installed solar panels. The fund was previously known as Community Climate Grants.
