Debbie Abrahams's Work and Pensions Committee has published the Government's response to its report on youth employment, education and training.

Ministers agreed that a cost-benefit analysis of the Jobs Guarantee would be included in a wider evaluation, although they declined to test every alternative waiting period proposed by the committee.
The Government rejected the recommendation to extend employer National Insurance relief to all workers under 25. It pointed instead to existing relief for under-21s, support for apprentices and the £3,000 Youth Jobs Grant.
It also rejected removing the 21-hour study limit for Carer's Allowance, while promising to raise support for young carers in full-time education through the cross-government group on unpaid carers.
Decisions on a wider youth employment strategy, benefit treatment for young apprentices and the health element of Universal Credit for under-22s were deferred until Alan Milburn's final review.
The response records both accepted and rejected recommendations. It does not amount to full government endorsement of the committee's original report.
