Danny Meredith has highlighted £3.3 million of spending with a Rochdale civil-engineering firm through the construction of 81 homes at John Rennie Place.

The contractor, Willmott Dixon, is finalising agreements with two more borough businesses that could take local spending on the project to £5 million.
The scheme has also provided 95 weeks of apprenticeship and T-Level training, including three placements for Hopwood Hall College students. Seven local people are employed on the project, two of whom were previously unemployed.
All 81 two, three and four-bedroom homes are being built to a net-zero standard on a former brownfield site near Rochdale railway station. Completion is scheduled for December 2027.
The development began in November 2025 and is supported by £15 million from the Government's Community Regeneration Partnerships Fund. That is existing project funding, not a new allocation announced today.
Meredith, Rochdale Council's Labour and Co-operative cabinet member for housing and regeneration, said procurement should ensure that local residents and businesses benefit from regeneration while building work is under way.
Work on a separate 142-apartment development next to the site is continuing, with procurement of a delivery partner expected to begin. That adjoining scheme is not part of the 81-home completion claim.
